I’m currently in my sophomore year of college, majoring in music business. It took a lot for me to get to this point of being open to the world but I am here to proudly say, I am a victim of child abandonment and I know how it feels to keep quiet so that you refrain from causing more trouble. The healing process is challenging but I know that sharing my story will be worth it.
Through hard times, songwriting became my therapy. At 14 years old, I decided to take my music to another level. Instead of it only helping me cope with my pains, I decided to share my gift with the world. I wasn’t sure how far I’d get, but I knew I had to shoot for the stars. Within the last few years, I’ve managed to gain over 100K followers on my social media accounts and I finally found my purpose!
My goal in life has always been to help others but I never knew exactly how I was going to channel this goal. Deep down inside, I wanted to be the person I didn’t have growing up. I realized that sometimes you just need a shoulder to cry on or just someone to vent to, preferably someone who has experienced something like you have and can give great advice on how to keep pushing forward.
With this #SupportTheQuiet movement, I would like to give victims of child abandonment a platform to use when they gain the confidence and courage to share their stories as well as provide financial support so that they may receive the help they need. I’d also like to be there for them when they just need someone to talk to. Why? - Because I struggled with being able to communicate for many reasons.
As a victim of child abandonment, I know what it’s like to be weary of trusting someone else. At times, you feel like you’re getting nowhere in life and you’re in this all alone. My success proves that your current situation is not your destination.
