I am here to tell you that I’ve been a victim of depression and yes I said victim because this is a mental illness that nobody deserves to go through. When you’re depressed you feel as if this grey cloud over your head will not go away. You feel like no one cares. You feel like no matter what you do you’ll never be happy again, but guess what? If there’s a will there’s a way and of course I am here to help! I believe that there are multiple ways to deal with depression but I’ll share with you my top 3 that have personally helped me.
This is my list of ways to deal with depression:
I know that I said this in my previous post but this step is so life changing I will keep recommending it as much as possible . Talk about what’s going on. Being silent while you’re depressed only makes it worse. Talking to a friend, or even talking to someone you don’t know like a counselor will help tremendously. Don’t feel ashamed to tell someone what’s going on; your feelings matter.
Also, surround yourself with people who love and care about you. This will definitely help. Everyone loves to feel like they matter, so why not put yourself in that environment, especially at a time like this. You need them the most, so go to a friend or family member’s house. You don’t have to be alone. Fight this fight with them!
Lastly ,if you’re depressed you should always STAY BUSY. Sitting around all day is super easy to do when you’re feeling like this but it honestly makes you feel more alone than you have to feel , and I’m only speaking from experience. Go outside and get fresh air, or go to that party that you got invited to although it may be difficult. Don’t let depression take over you. You CAN and you WILL beat it. There is ALWAYS light at the end of the tunnel!
